Devo Cancels Tour, Guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh Injured

Devo is canceling its upcoming tour dates because of injuries sustained by guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh.

Here’s the band’s statement:

DEVO deeply regret that they have had to postpone all of their upcoming live dates for 2010 due to a serious hand injury sustained by guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh.

A glass shard sliced Mothersbaugh’s right thumb to the bone, severing a tendon. He underwent immediate emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery after proper care and therapy.

Most of DEVO’s upcoming November tour dates, including Solana Beach’s Belly Up, Los Angeles’ Club Nokia, and San Francisco’s Warfield Theater, will be rescheduled for next spring and the public will be informed once new dates have been confirmed.

PLEASE READ FIRST! Yeah I know you play if different, in fact there are several ways to play the main riff. You can place your A chord on second fret too. But, please check it out, I think it just sounds better with your capo on 2nd fret. And you have plenty of time to remove it before the solo (if you want to…) This sequence has been played with an Edwards Les Paul Custom guitar through a Boss Super Overdrive pedal (modified to TS808). This guitar solo has always been one of my favourites, thank you Paul Kossof!!

This is a demo of the BOSS Harmonist HR-2. It was produced from 1994 to 1999. I couldn’t find any demos of this pedal, so I decided to make one myself.. It was one of the first compact harmonizer pedals, and it can create two different harmonies up or down: -/+ 3,4,5,6 and OCT. You can select between all 12 different keys, and adjust the level for each voice individually. It can also create a “detune”/chorus effect. I’m using a “Y”-split cable to split my guitar signal to both the “Detector in” input on the HR-2, and my V-Stack BHM preamp pedal. Then the signal goes from the V-Stack to the HR-2’s normal input. The stereo output from the HR-2 goes straight into Cubase music software, with just a little reverb added in the mix.
